"Flesh Prison" is an ode to a woman’s soul held captive by her body. The body and the soul are sometimes perceived as different entities, especially for women; the physical shell is often most coveted in society. A woman’s body is governed by many rules and regulations. In religious contexts, women are seen as factories of reproduction, bestowed with the title of "mother".

The world's most esteemed women is a mother, a title granted devoid of the implications of sex, a virginal birth. Many argue that a woman’s salvation lies in pregnancy and subsequent childbirth, after which she is considered complete. The estrangement between a woman’s self and her body is prevalent in her psyche, burdened by the idea of a body created primarily for reproduction—the most vital role.
