Based in Jakarta, Ula Zuhra
is a storyteller, illustrator, cartoonist and visual artworker. In 2021, she co-founded Studio Cacing,
an animation studio.
Her works include themes of feminism, social commentary, magical realism, pop culture, mythological and esoteric practices in Indonesia through a tongue-in-cheek satirical lens using a wide range of mediums such as painting, comics, and cartoon.
Since 2023, Ula has published four books. Pesta Keramat (Cahyati Press, 2023), Aca & Ica: Collected Stories (Cahyati Press, 2024), Transit Reality (Self Published, 2024), Night On Earth (Self Published, 2025) and The Employment Experiment (Post Editions, 2025).
In 2025, Ula won La Casa Encendida’s The Puchi Grand Jury Award for her graphic novel Aca & Ica: Collected Stories, the book will be published in the Spanish language under Fulgencio Pimentel.
